The Journey Begins Here!

Located off the original bypass, the Winchester Traveling Trail is the first of its kind in Kentucky. The project was a collaborative effort between members of the Clark County Activity Coalition and Bluegrass Rails to Trails made possible by sponsors, Clark Regional Medical Center, Clark County Health Department, Ertel Medicine & Pediatrics, Clark County Parks and Recreation, the city of Winchester, Clark Energy Cooperative and Winchester Municipal Utilities, The Allen Company, Bypass Rental, and Boonesboro Animal Clinic.

The walking trail is open to the public from dawn to dusk and is located at the corner of Colby Road and Bypass Rd. An opening and community walk kicked off the trail on Saturday, March 15, 2008.

The mission of the Winchester Traveling Trail is to promote physical activity and to inject a sense of anticipation and freshness into regular exercise routines. The trail is conducive to both walking and running making for a healthier Clark County community. The trail allows leashed and tagged dogs to walk with their owners. Boonesboro Animal Clinic has made this possible by sponsoring Dog stations to be located on the trail encouraging owners to clean up after their dogs.

Parking is available off Bypass Road.

Bring your pets. Come and enjoy a stroll or a brisk walk in this rural, park like setting. If you are a visitor to Winchester, before leaving make sure to try out some of the local fare.
